Program Descriptions and Goals

New Beginning is a 6 week program located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Each group formed consists of 6 to 8 females, ages 16-65. Members of each group vary in terms of eating disorder, traumatic life experiences, and beliefs about themselves and their world. Even "normalized" traumas such as teasing can affect people. We treat people with all types of eating disorder, including body image disturbance. We do not judge your stage of recovery or illness; rather, we accept anyone struggling with weight, food, and/or body image. All programs are individually tailored based on need and diagnosis.

Groups are held 4 days per week for a total of 10 hours per week. The program is 60 hours of psycho-educational therapy. We include art interpretative work, assertiveness training, anger management skills, relaxation techniques, mindful eating, journaling work, and emotional identification and management. We also help you to understand the time-line of your life, and what messages you've learned about yourself and your world based on your life experiences.

All program meetings are 100% confidential. The goal of the program is to assist participants in returning to a life free from trauma based thoughts and/or eating disorder behaviors that interfere with daily functioning.
